Somewhere along the line someone got this crazy idea that they didn't want they're kids to be exposed to so many toxic chemicals. There was organic food and then there was organic cleaners and then there was clothing, not necessarily in that order. If kids weren't the first reason why organic goods were inspired, I don't know what was.
Let's not be the 'consuming for the sake of consuming' website though and admit that hand-me-downs have more value than just being free, if that can possibly make sense. Hand-me-downs don't produce more toxins and waster through manufacturing and hand-me-downs will most likely have no chemical residue left on them (no-brainer). That's why hand-me-downs are great for your kids, the best alternative perhaps.
